Atif Aslam, Abdullah Siddiqui impress with ‘Go’

Every week, music fans wait for a new Coke Studio season 14 song to be released, and every week, the audience believes the season has reached its peak. Then the following week’s single is released, and the audience is awestruck all over again.

That is precisely what occurred on Friday. Fans are adoring Atif Aslam’s collaboration with Abdullah Siddiqui for the 12th Coke Studio song, ‘Go.’

They couldn’t possibly be wrong. Atif Aslam’s ethereal vocals and Abdullah Siddiqui’s sensitive touch propel Coke Studio’s Go into the stratosphere with a dreamy cloudscape and an earworm tune.

Abdullah Siddiqui, speaking about the song, said it’s about “romanticism and being an emotional fool.” It’s almost an anthem for sensitivity.”

This season, Coke Studio emphasized all of the elements, with a special focus on the video. As a result, bringing on renowned director Kamal Khan and Production Designer Eruj Hadi was a no-brainer. “I wanted to add in some fanciful elements because the foundation of [the song] has an electronic feel,” Kamal says.

The performers, suspended in the clouds, understand that the only thing holding them back in life is themselves. Faraz Sheikh, who devised gender-neutral styles to express a break from conventional ways of thinking, is responsible for Abdullah’s shine and Atif’s embroidered boiler suit.

The excitement in their voices overflows by the time the chorus begins. The vocalists open themselves up to the universe’s unlimited possibilities.

With the help of Xulfi and lyricist Maanu, Siddiqui, who also acts as Associate Music Producer for the season, delivers a perfect blend of what Coke Studio promised this season: youthful energy, innovative sounds, and veteran musicians trying new things.

‘Go’ screams from the speakers and grabs our hands. Abdullah and Maanu, two Gen-Z breakout singers, elevate this track, while Xulfi’s wisdom and Aslam’s soulful delivery return the song to its Pakistani roots. A memorable sarangi melody runs through the chorus, which makes it rock.

Needless to say, the Atif Aslam and Abdullah Siddiqui Coke Studio smash is on repeat in our house and will be for a long time!
